Celery Juice Anyone?

I’ve been juicing almost every day for 5 months now and I even wrote a blog post about how much I love it and why I do it. Celery has been in every juice that I make along with carrots, cucumber, turmeric, and ginger. And I add different combinations of pineapple, green apple, or kiwi to give it some sweetness. But the other night I was watching Extra! and Anthony William was on. He is known as the “originator of the celery juice movement,” and is considered a Medical Medium.

Celery being juiced was obviously not news to me, but William stated that celery should be juiced on its own and consumed on an empty stomach. He also said to add nothing to it!

Challenge accepted!

According to his new book Liver Rescue, “Nearly every challenge, from pesky general health complaints to digestive issues to emotional struggles to weight gain to high blood pressure to heart problems to brain fog to skin conditions to autoimmune and other chronic illnesses, has an origin in an overloaded liver and can improve and heal when you harness the force of this humble organ.”

Now, I just finished the Whole30 and was disappointed that the aches in my neck and shoulders did not feel much relief. These troubled areas need a lot of love. But the diet did reaffirm that sugar and dairy are not my friends. And it is very important for me to watch how much sugar (any sugar!) I consume in a day.

Note: I even had negative reactions to sugar from eating too much fruit! And while being on such a restrictive diet, I was able to pinpoint exactly which fruits had caused the reaction.

With that said, I really enjoyed all of the food I ate on the Whole30. And after the initial bumps while adjusting, I felt an increase in my energy levels, better brain function, mental recall, and overall increased positivity. I was far more productive at work and at home! That’s a major plus!! This “diet” forces you to start new routines, try new things, and get creative! Also, taking the time to examine labels is an excellent reminder of all the additives in our packaged foods. I intend to continue cooking mostly Whole30 at home with the exception of adding back legumes.

Back to celery juice! I am shocked that I did not hear about this sooner. I knew about the benefits of juicing celery because I’ve included it in every single juice for the last 5 months. But William is saying not to mix it with anything! This part is news to me! I’ll have to adjust my routine tomorrow morning, but I do plan to make this juice as advised and drink it on an empty stomach at least 15 minutes before eating. I already have the Plexus “Pink Drink” Slim that I love for mornings, so I’ll plan to have my celery juice in the middle of the day.

If you’ve read any of my bio, you know that I’ve tried just about anything and everything recommended to me for decreasing pain symptoms. And we’re talking over a period of 10 years or so!

I do credit Restore and Plexus supplements with helping heal my gut, and I can definitely tell the difference! But I just spent thirty days being very close to perfect with a balanced diet, supplements, juicing, and moderate activity levels and I still have these nagging aches and pains. So, bring on the celery juice challenge!

Here are some celery juice tips that I got from goop.com:

  1. Every morning, drink roughly sixteen ounces of celery juice on an empty stomach. Make sure it’s fresh, plain celery juice with no other ingredients.
  2. For even greater benefits or if you suffer from a chronic illness or symptom, consider drinking twenty-four to thirty-two ounces of straight celery juice per day. You can drink it all at once in the morning on an empty stomach or split it into two servings.
  3. Use organic celery whenever possible. If you’re using conventional celery, be sure to wash it especially well before juicing.
  4. It is best to make celery juice fresh and then drink it immediately. If you’re unable to make your celery juice right before you want to drink it, it’s important to drink it within twenty-four hours of making it.
Brought my afternoon pick up on the road!

Have a great week!
